VNA Community Healthcare of Guilford Acquires VNA Services, Inc.

June 8, 2010

VNA Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Saint Raphael Healthcare System, has been acquired by VNA Community Healthcare of Guilford. The combined non-profit homecare agency will operate under the name VNA Community Healthcare and serve approximately 1800 patients daily, providing home-care services to residents of the Greater New Haven and Middlesex Counties. The main corporate office will remain in Guilford, with a clinical office in Hamden.

VNA Community Healthcare will also own and operate the Strong House Adult Day Center of Madison, formerly operated by Saint Raphael’s.

Most of the clinical staff members of VNA Services, Inc., including nurses, home health aides and other clinicians, have joined VNA Community Healthcare, growing the agency’s workforce to nearly 600 employees.

“The new organization will offer a wider range of comprehensive home care, including private-duty service through our affiliate LifeTime Solutions and family caregiver and chronic-disease support services to residents throughout the region,” said Susan Faris, president and CEO of VNA Community Healthcare. “We’ll continue to provide patients with the excellent level of clinical care, respect and support that have long been our hallmark.”

VNA Community Healthcare also has Caregiver Resource Centers located in North Haven and Old Saybrook.
